The Show Went On! Even the pandemic could not stop Windjammers from “attending” the Annual Convention, albeit from the safety of everyone’s home. Nearly 150 people registered and attended various combinations of the 24 Sessions during the event. This was a MEMBERS ONLY event FREE with the payment of 2021 Dues. And, since October 2020, more than 30 First of Mays have joined our ranks, most participating in the 2021 Annual Convention!

Led by Vice President Lynette Garlan (WJU #3633), a team of 8 people pulled off the magic that made this event a rousing success. Each Team Member brought their initiative, skills and desire to “make it happen.” Included in this special event were online instrumental instruction clinics; educational seminars, group socials and recording rollouts. Every playing member had an opportunity to play their instrument and record themselves in the 2021 Bandwagon (Virtual) Band, with the initial finished recordings released at the Banquet on Saturday night.
The Launch of Preservation Initiatives
During 2020, Rod Everhart (WJU #1351) worked tirelessly to research and secure monumental collections of recordings, Circus Fanfare issues, Photographs, Posters, and other historically significant materials. Working with Don George (WJU #3911) who designed and established WJU’s content-rich website, Rod populated 300 issues of Circus Fanfare, 60 recordings, and a host of other material. Access requires active MEMBERSHIP and LOGIN to see these materials.
Some of the preserved materials were adapted to various Convention Sessions. Non-playing Member, Andy Rawls (WJU #3435), a professional videographer and producer (in addition to many other vocations), spent hundreds of hours editing and creating outstanding video content for use at the convention. These are also available to MEMBERS ONLY. Some shoud be required viewing by all members.
