The Windjammers Unlimited Hall of Fame was established to honor those individuals who have significantly contributed to the mission of WJU. These honorees include many Circus Band Leaders, Composers, Musicians, Authors and members of Windjammers.

Each year, WJU’s Hall of Fame Committee secures nominations for the honor. Occasionally, a person is nominated to receive the Meritorious Service Award for their unparalleled contributions to Windjammers Unlimited, Inc.

Recent Laureates

In 2026 circus bandmaster William “Boom Boom” Browning (WJU #68) was added as a Hall of Fame Laureate.  Browning served as a show drummer on numerous circuses and then continued in that role while simultaneously acting as bandmaster and performance director later in his career.  A comprehensive article on his circus odyssey was included in the November 2026 Circus Fanfare.

2026 Meritorious Service Award

Rod Everhart (WJU #1351) was added to the Meritorious Service Honorees.  Rod was Circus Fanfare editor 2016 – 2025.  In addition, he established himself as a pre-eminent circus music historian, researching and publishing countless articles on circus bandmasters and traditional circus music.  Thanks to his dedication to the preservation of circus music history, the Windjammer website now houses hundreds of verified factoids making it a primary research tool for cultural historians, including several hundreds of circus music audio files. A tireless volunteer, Rod could be counted on to complete any Windjammer assignment flawlessly.
